Demorest Elementary School is a public school for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.  We are located 76 miles northeast of Atlanta in the city of Demorest. Our school is part of the Habersham County school district in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The state of Georgia and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools have continuously accredited Demorest Elementary. The Georgia Accrediting Commission also accredits us with quality.

In November 2011, Demorest Elementary was recognized as a Georgia School of Excellence for gains in student achievement.  In February 2012, we received a Platinum Award for greatest gains in student achievement from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement.   On October 31, 2012 the Georgia Department of Education recognized Demorest Elementary as a "High Progress School."  A "High-Progress School" is a Title I school among the 10% of Title I schools in the state that is making the most progress in improving the performance of the "all students" group over three years on the statewide assessments.  A school may not be classified as a "High Progress School" if there are significant achievement gaps across subgroups that are not closing in the school.  Our 2012 and 2013 College and Career Readiness Performance Indicators (CCRPI) serves as evidence of our teachers' and students' success.
