Demorest Elementary School has been awarded a Platinum Award for greatest gains in student achievement from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA)  in the 2011 Single Statewide System Accountability (SSAS) awards.  Award-winning schools must meet criteria based on the results of the two most recent years of the Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT).

Criteria to be determined winners in the Platinum Award category are as follows:
1.    Maintain AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) for three consecutive years;
2.    Demonstrate that at least 35% of students exceed standards in all test areas as measured by state assessments; and,
3.    Demonstrate that at least 98% or more students meet or exceed standards as measured by state assessments.

This regognition comes on the heels of being named as a 2011 Georgia School of Excellence.  The faculty, staff, and administration are very proud of our efforts, and are committed to continuing to provide quality learning opportunities for our students.
